Health & Sickness
For a healthy life
اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَدَنِي اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي سَمْعِي اللَّهُمَّ عَافِنِي فِي بَصَرِي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ
Transliteration: Allahumma AAafinee fee badanee, allahumma AAafinee fee samAAee, allahumma AAafinee fee basaree, la ilaha illa anta. Allahumma innee aAAoothu bika minal-kufri, walfaqri, Allahumma innee aAAoothu bika min AAathabil-qabri, la ilaha illa anta.
Translation: O Allah, grant my body health, O Allah, grant my hearing health, O Allah, grant my sight health. None has the right to be worshipped except You. O Allah, I take refuge with You from disbelief and poverty, and I take refuge with You from the punishment of the grave. None has the right to be worshipped except You.

When Visiting the Sick
لَا بَأْسَ طَهُورٌ إِنْ شَاءَ اللّٰهُ
Transliteration: Laa ba’sa tahoorun ‘inshaa’Allaah.
Translation: Do not worry, it will be a purification (for you), Allah willing.

أَسْأَلُ اللّٰهَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ
Transliteration: As’alullaahal-’Adheema Rabbal-’Arshil-’Adheemi ‘an yashfiyaka.
Translation: I ask Allah who is the Lofty and the Lord of the Mighty Throne that He cures you (Prophet Mohammad (SAW.) said that by reciting this dua seven times, the ill person will regain his health and if death occurs then that (death) is a different issue (i.e. death is written it cannot be prevented))

To alleviate pain
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ، أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللّٰهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ. (سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ)
Transliteration: Bismillah, A’udhu bi’izzatil-lahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhiru.
Translation: In the Name of Allah, I seek refuge in the might and power of Allah from the evil of what I feel and what I fear.

Upon seeing someone going through a trial or tribulation
الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِي عَافَانِي مِمَّا ابْتَلاَكَ بِهِ وَفَضَّلَنِي عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ تَفْضِيلاً
Transliteration: Alhamdu lillaahil-lathee ‘aafaanee mimmab-talaaka bihi wa fadhdhalanee ‘alaa katheerin mimman khalaqa tafdheela
Translation: Praise is to Allah Who has spared me what He has afflicted you with, and preferred me greatly above much of what He has created.

If you fall on hard times
اَنِّیۡ مَسَّنِیَ الضُّرُّ وَ اَنۡتَ اَرۡحَمُ الرّٰحِمِیۡنَ
Transliteration: Annee massaniya addurru waanta arhamuarrahimeen
Translation: Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

When you are nearing your death
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالرَّفِيقِ الأَعْلَى
Transliteration: Allaahum-maghfir lee warhamnee wa ‘alhiqnee bir-rafeeqil-’a’laa
Translation: O Allah, forgive me and have mercy upon me and join me with the highest companions (in Paradise).

لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللّٰہُ وَاللّٰهُ اَکۡبَرُ، لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللّٰہُ وَحْدَهُ، لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللّٰہُ لَا شَرِيۡکَ لَهُ، لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللّٰہُ لَهُ الْمُلْکُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللّٰہُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰہِِ
Transliteration: Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu wallaahu ‘Akbar, laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu wahdahu, laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu laa shareeka lahu, laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu wa laa hawla wa laa quwwata ‘illaa billaah
Translation: There is none worthy of worship but Allah, Allah is the Most Great. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, Who has no partner. There is none worthy of worship but Allah, His is the dominion and His is the praise. There is none worthy of worship but Allah, there is no power and no might but by Allah.

When visiting graves
السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الدِّيَارِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ وَإِنَّا إِنْ شَاءَ اللّٰهُ بِكُمْ لاَحِقُونَ نَسْأَلُ اللّٰهَ لَنَا وَلَكُمُ الْعَافِيَةَ
Transliteration: Assalaamu ‘alaykum ‘ahlad-diyaari, minal-mu’mineena walmuslimeena, wa ‘innaa ‘in shaa’ Allaahu bikum laahiqoona [wa yarhamullaahul-mustaqdimeena minnaa walmusta’khireena] ‘as’alullaaha lanaa wa lakumul- ‘aafiyata.
Translation: Oh Muslims residing here, salaams on you, by the will of Allah we will also be coming to you. We seek safety for us and you.

During illness
[سُوۡرَةُ الفَلَق] قُلۡ اَعُوۡذُ بِرَبِّ الۡفَلَقِ، مِنۡ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ، وَ مِنۡ شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ اِذَا وَقَب، وَ مِنۡ شَرِّ النَّفّٰثٰتِ فِی الۡعُقَدِ، وَ مِنۡ شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ اِذَا حَسَدَ [سُوۡرَةُ النَّاس] ۡقُلۡ اَعُوۡذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ، مَلِکِ النَّاسِ، اِلٰہِ النَّاسِ، مِنۡ شَرِّ الۡوَسۡوَاسِ الۡخَنَّاسِ، الَّذِیۡ یُوَسۡوِسُ فِیۡ صُدُوۡرِ النَّاسِ، مِنَ الۡجِنَّۃِ وَ النَّاسِ
Transliteration: [Surah Al-Falaq]Qul ‘A’udhu Bi-Rabbil-Falaq, Min Sharri Ma Khalaq, Wa Min Sharri Ghasiqin ‘Idha Waqab, Wa Min Sharri-Naffathati Fil-‘Uqadi, Wa Min Sharri Hasidin ‘Idha Hasad. [Surah An-Nas]Qul ‘A’udhu Bi-Rabbin-Nas, Malikin-Nas, Ilahin-Nas, Min-Sharril-Waswasil-Khan-Nas, Al-Ladhi Yuwas-wisu Fee Sudurin-Nas, Mina Al-Jinnati Wan-Nas.
Translation: [Surah Al-Falaq]Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak, From the evil of that which He created, And from the evil of darkness when it settles, And from the evil of the blowers in knots, And from the evil of an envier when he envies." [Surah An-Nas]Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, The Sovereign of mankind, The God of mankind, From the evil of the retreating whisperer, Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind, From among the jinn and mankind."

Family & Children
For forgiveness for your parents and all Muslims
رَبَّنَا اغۡفِرۡ لِیۡ وَ لِوَالِدَیَّ وَ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ یَوۡمَ یَقُوۡمُ الۡحِسَابُ
Transliteration: Rabbanaghfir Lee Wa Liwaalidayya Wa Lil-Mu’mineena Yawma Yaqoomul H’isaab
Translation: Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.

Make Dua for your parents
قَالَ رَبِّ اِنِّیۡ ظَلَمۡتُ نَفۡسِیۡ فَاغۡفِرۡ لِیۡ فَغَفَرَ لَہٗ ؕ اِنَّہٗ ہُوَ الۡغَفُوۡرُ الرَّحِیۡمُ، قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَاۤ اَنۡعَمۡتَ عَلَیَّ فَلَنۡ اَکُوۡنَ ظَہِیۡرًا لِّلۡمُجۡرِمِیۡنَ، رَبِّ نَجِّنِیۡ مِنَ الۡقَوۡمِ الظّٰلِمِیۡنَ
Transliteration: Qala Rabbi innee thalamtunafsee faghfir lee faghafara lahu innahu huwa alghafooruarraheem Qala Rabbi bima anAAamtaAAalayya falan akoona thaheeran lilmujrimeen Rabbi najjinee mina alqawmi aththalimeen
Translation: He said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me," and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. He said, "My Lord, for the favor You bestowed upon me, I will never be an assistant to the criminals. My Lord, save me from the wrong doing people.

رَبِّ اجۡعَلۡنِیۡ مُقِیۡمَ الصَّلٰوۃِ وَ مِنۡ ذُرِّیَّتِیۡ، رَبَّنَا وَ تَقَبَّلۡ دُعَآءِ
Transliteration: Rabbij-A’lnee Muqeemas’ S’alaati Wa Min D’urrriyyatee Rabbanaa Wa Taqabbal Du-A’aa
Translation: O my Lord! Make me one who performs As-Salaat (Iqaamat-as-Salaat), and (also) from my offspring, our Lord! And accept my invocation.

رَّبِّ ارۡحَمۡہُمَا کَمَا رَبَّیٰنِیۡ صَغِیۡرًا
Transliteration: Rabbi irhamhuma kama rabbayani sagheera
Translation: My Lord, have mercy upon them (parents) as they brought me up [when i was] small.

For a blissful family
رَبَّنَا ہَبۡ لَنَا مِنۡ اَزۡوَاجِنَا وَ ذُرِّیّٰتِنَا قُرَّۃَ اَعۡیُنٍ وَّ اجۡعَلۡنَا لِلۡمُتَّقِیۡنَ اِمَامًا
Transliteration: Rabbana Hablana min azwaajina wadhurriy-yatina, qurrata ‘ayioni wa-jalna lil-muttaqeena Imaama
Translation: O my Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous.

Asking Allah to grant you a child
رَبِّ ہَبۡ لِیۡ مِنۡ لَّدُنۡکَ ذُرِّیَّۃً طَیِّبَۃً ۚ اِنَّکَ سَمِیۡعُ الدُّعَآءِ
Transliteration: Rabbi Hab Lee Mil Ladunka D’urriyyatan T’ayyibah Innaka Samee-u’d Du’aa
Translation: O my Lord! Grant me from You, a good offspring. You are indeed the All-Hearer of invocation.

رَبِّ لَا تَذَرۡنِیۡ فَرۡدًا وَّ اَنۡتَ خَیۡرُ الۡوٰرِثِیۡنَ
Transliteration: Rabbi Laa Tad’arnee Fardaw wa Anta Khayrul Waaritheen
Translation: O My Lord! Leave me not single (childless), though You are the Best of the inheritors.

Hardship & Patience
Say these words when in distress
اللّٰہُ اللّٰہُ رَبِّي لَا أُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا
Transliteration: Allahu Allahu Rabbi, la ushriku bihi shai'a
Translation: Allah, Allah is my Lord. I do not associate anything with Him.

Get a house in Jannah!
قَالَتۡ رَبِّ ابۡنِ لِیۡ عِنۡدَکَ بَیۡتًا فِی الۡجَنَّۃِ
Transliteration: Qaalat rab bibni lee 'indaka baitan fil jannati
Translation: My Lord! Build me a house in Paradise near You

When you fail or lose at something
قَدَّرَ اللّٰهُ وَمَا شَاءَ فَعَلَ
Transliteration: Qadarullaahu wa maa shaa’afa’ala
Translation: It is the Decree of Allah and He does whatever He wills.

When stricken by tragedy
اِنَّا لِلّٰہِ وَ اِنَّاۤ اِلَیۡہِ رٰجِعُوۡنَ، اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا
Transliteration: Innaa lillaahi wa ‘innaa ‘ilayhi raaji’oon, Allaahumma’-jurni fee museebatee wa ‘akhliflee khayran minhaa
Translation: We are from Allah and unto Him we return. O Allah take me out of my plight and bring to me after it something better.

حَسۡبُنَا اللّٰہُ وَ نِعۡمَ الۡوَکِیۡلُ
Transliteration: Hasbunallaahu wa ni’amal-wakeel
Translation: Allah is sufficient for us and the best of those on whom to depend.

For seeking Allah's help
حَسۡبُنَا اللّٰہُ وَ نِعۡمَ الۡوَکِیۡلُ
Transliteration: Hasbunallaahu wa ni’amal-wakeel
Translation: Allah is sufficient for us and the best of those on whom to depend.
📖 Source: Surah Al-Imran 3:173
اِنَّمَاۤ اَشۡکُوۡا بَثِّیۡ وَ حُزۡنِیۡۤ اِلَی اللّٰہِ وَ اَعۡلَمُ مِنَ اللّٰہِ مَا لَا تَعۡلَمُوۡنَ
Transliteration: Innama ashkoo baththee wahuzneeila Allahi waaAAlamu mina Allahi ma lataAAlamoon
Translation: I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah, and I know from Allah that which you do not know.

At times of worry and sorry
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ
Transliteration: Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika minal-hammi walhazani, wal’ajzi walkasali, walbukhli waljubni, wa dhala’id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijaal
Translation: O Allah, I seek refuge in you from grief and sadness, from weakness and from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men (i .e . others).

When in distress
لَّاۤ اِلٰہَ اِلَّاۤ اَنۡتَ سُبۡحٰنَکَ اِنِّیۡ کُنۡتُ مِنَ الظّٰلِمِیۡنَ
Transliteration: Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illaa ‘Anta subhaanaka ‘innee kuntu minadh-dhaalimeen
Translation: There is none worthy of worship but You, glory is to You. Surely, I was among the wrongdoers.
📖 Source: Surah Al-Anbiya - 21:87, At-Tirmidhi: 3505
اللَّهُمَّ رَحْمَتَكَ أَرْجُو فَلاَ تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ
Transliteration: Allaahumma rahmataka ‘arjoo falaa takilnee ‘ilaa nafsee tarfata ‘aynin, wa ‘aslih lee sha’nee kullahu, laa’ilaaha ‘illaa ‘Anta
Translation: O Allah, I hope for Your mercy. Do not leave me to myself even for the blinking of an eye (i.e. a moment). Correct all of my affairs for me. There is none worthy of worship but You.

لَا إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللّٰهُ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللّٰهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللّٰهُ رَبُّ السَّمَوَاتِ، وَرَبُّ الأَرْضِ، وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ
Transliteration: Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahul-’Adheemul-Haleem, laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu Rabbul-’Arshil-’Adheem, laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu Rabbus-samaawaati wa Rabbul-’ardhi wa Rabbul-’Arshil-Kareem
Translation: There is none worthy of worship but Allah the Mighty, the Forbearing. There is none worthy of worship but Allah, Lord of the Magnificent Throne. There is none worthy of worship but Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, and Lord of the Noble Throne.

يَا حَىُّ يَا قَيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ، يَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِكْرَامِ
Transliteration: Ya hayyu ya qayyoom, birahmatika astagheeth, Ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram
Translation: O Ever Living, O Self-Sustaining Sustainer! In Your Mercy do I seek relief, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor.

For overcoming your weaknesses
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ
Transliteration: Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika minal-hammi walhazani, wal’ajzi walkasali, walbukhli waljubni, wa dhala’id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijaal
Translation: O Allah, I seek refuge in you from grief and sadness, from weakness and from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men (i .e . others).

On hearing a bad news
الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ
Transliteration: Alhamdu lillaahi ‘alaa kulli haal
Translation: Praise is to Allah in all circumstances.

For patience during difficult times
رَبَّنَاۤ اَفۡرِغۡ عَلَیۡنَا صَبۡرًا وَّ تَوَفَّنَا مُسۡلِمِیۡنَ
Transliteration: Rabbanaaa Afrigh A’laynaa S’abraw Wa Tawaffanaa Muslimeen
Translation: Our Lord! pour out on us patience, and cause us to die as Muslims.

When someone insults you
رَبِّ احۡکُمۡ بِالۡحَقِّ وَ رَبُّنَا الرَّحۡمٰنُ الۡمُسۡتَعَانُ عَلٰی مَا تَصِفُوۡنَ
Transliteration: Rabbi ohkum bilhaqqi wa rabbuna arrahmanul musta’aanu alaa ma tasifoon
Translation: My Lord, judge [between us] in truth. And our Lord is the Most Merciful, the one whose help is sought against that which you describe.

To trust upon Allah
حَسۡبِیَ اللّٰہُ لَاۤ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ہُوَ ؕ عَلَیۡہِ تَوَکَّلۡتُ وَ ہُوَ رَبُّ الۡعَرۡشِ الۡعَظِیۡمِ
Transliteration: Hasbiyal-lahu la ilaha illa huwa, AAalayhi tawakkalt, wahuwa rabbul-AAarshil-Aaatheem
Translation: Allah is Sufficient for me, none has the right to be worshipped except Him, upon Him I rely and He is Lord of the exalted throne.

وَ اُفَوِّضُ اَمۡرِیۡۤ اِلَی اللّٰہِ ؕ اِنَّ اللّٰہَ بَصِیۡرٌۢ بِالۡعِبَادِ
Transliteration: wa ufawwidhu amree ila Allahi innallaha baseerun bil ibaad
Translation: And you will remember what I [now] say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah . Indeed, Allah is Seeing of [His] servants.

When someone praises you
اللَّهُمَّ لاَ تُؤَاخِذْنِي بِمَا يَقُولُونَ، وَاغْفِرْ لِي مَا لا يَعْلَمُونَ
Transliteration: Allaahumma laa tu’aakhithnee bimaa yaqooloona, waghfir lee maa laa ya’lamoon
Translation: O Allah, do not call me to account for what they say and forgive me for what they have no knowledge of.

When feeling frightened
لَّاۤ اِلٰہَ اِلَّاۤ اللّٰہُ
Transliteration: Laa ‘ilaaha ‘illallaahu
Translation: There is none worthy of worship but Allah.

For patience
رَبَّنَاۤ اَفۡرِغۡ عَلَیۡنَا صَبۡرًا وَّ ثَبِّتۡ اَقۡدَامَنَا وَ انۡصُرۡنَا عَلَی الۡقَوۡمِ الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ
Transliteration: Rabbana Afrigh A’layna Sabran wa Thabbit Aqdamana Wansurna A’lal Qawmil Kafireen
Translation: Our Lord! Bestow on us endurance, make our foothold sure, and give us help against the disbelieving folk.

أَعُوذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطانِ الرَّجِيْمِ
Transliteration: A’oothu billaahi minash-Shaytaanir-rajeem
Translation: I seek refuge with Allah against the Satan, the outcast.

Loss & Grief
When a loss occurs
اِنَّا لِلّٰہِ وَ اِنَّاۤ اِلَیۡہِ رٰجِعُوۡنَ
Transliteration: Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raajioon
Translation: Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.

Settle a debt
اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلاَلِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
Transliteration: Allaahummak-finee bihalaalika ‘an haraamika wa ‘aghninee bifadhlika ‘amman siwaaka
Translation: O Allah, suffice me with what You have allowed instead of what You have forbidden, and make me independent of all others besides You.

For someone who lends you money
بَارَكَ اللّٰهُ لَكَ فِي أَهْلِكَ وَمَالِكَ إِنَّمَا جَزَاءُ السَّلَفِ الْحَمْدُ وَالأَدَاءُ
Transliteration: Baarakallaahu laka fee ‘ahlika wa maalika, ‘innamaa jazaa’us-salafil-hamdu wal’adaa’
Translation: May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth, surely the reward for a loan is praise and returning (what was borrowed).
